An A-Z guide covering marketing, exhibiting, networks and how to sustain your practice.

Out of necessity an artist has to navigate a raft of challenging and multi-faceted roles
that have nothing to do with making art! This talk explores the nitty gritty of being an
artist, giving you the tools to move your career forward, whether it be writing or talking about your work, building your exhibition profile, applying for commissions,
competitions and exhibitions, working in collaboration or meeting professionals in your fields and creating new networks in which to increase your profile.

In addition there will be tips on marketing and selling your work and how to approach
galleries/ clients / curators in order to further your career.
We shall also explore the idea of how you can drive your practice through success and failure and what these relative terms mean to artists and how one can be realistic about the goals we set for ourselves.

Feedback  - sent to Rosalind after the talk.....

Just wanted to say thanks for the inspirational talk on Saturday!
I found the advice on the artist's statement particularly helpful and
have started working on mine. It was also great to be given a list of
contacts I can look into as I really didn't know where to start!

I wanted to thank you again for all the information and advice you have shared.

I just wanted to say thanks very much for coming into our studio yesterday. Having just resigned from my full-time job to allow more time to focus on my artwork, self-promotion and other projects more directly linked with my practice, your talk was particularly inspiring and extremely helpful.
