CONSTRUCTIONS

Private View - Friday 16th Sept 6 till late
Open Hours: Saturday 17th Sep 12 till 6. Sunday 18th Sep 12 till 4.

Collaborations, exchanges, new art and new spaces.
Throughout the weekend Exchange Project space will provide an opportunity for the public to get involved with artistic exchange. The space has been reconfigured to represent the different points of exchange that artists have used while working with communities/community members.




Preparitory sketches for the show.

Areas:

Bar-tering space Swap a drawing, anecdote or object for an exchange drink token.

Gallery View projects of collaborations between artists and locals, 
including 'Sebright Future Royals' and '1 Day in Hackney Wick' photos taken on 10 disposable cameras by people living and working in the Wick.



Olympic Debate Café Take a seat with a cup of tea, find a point for discussion, discuss until an opinion is reached. Add the opinion to a Hackney Wick postcard and post in space post box. At sporadic intervals throughout the weekend the postcards will be delivered around the Wick. Hosted by Anna Portch





Observation area Sit out site, what will you observe?

Make, collage and draw with recycled materials to be displayed in 'gallery'. With Lucy Dalzell







Local Sign Production







Visitors





 are asked to paint a sign of their name or chosen occupation. The signs will be hung outside the space to show the people populating the inside space. Re-enacting an Alÿs Project, periodically we will invite visitors to be photographed with a sign of a contrasting occupation

Exchange Brunch 

Join us for some eggs and bacon in exchange [project space] for your scrambled thoughts. We will collect yourideas on a slice of comunity, dished up with fried artists on a plate of Hackney Wick. Served with a steaming cup of discussion. 
Guests include, Polly Brannan from Wick Curiousity Shop and Adeline Royal, Hackney WickED Documentary maker.

Feel free to bring a brunch ingredient.

Open Rehearsal
 -  Sat 18th 

12- 4pm 


Performance artist Kate Webster will be working in the space. With a group of performance artists she will be devising a new performance. The rehearsal will be 'opened' for ten minutes on the hour 12 till 4. Peek in and see how artists create work together.

Owen and the elephant A monologue.




"Owen's down on his luck. He's lost his job and is going back to live with


Dad. He thinks things can't get much worse, when he meets an elephant."

Rucken
 a portable space by

At sporadic intervals throughout the weekend Rucken will be assembled as a mini exchange space collecting moments of interaction. 




Mapping the locality Join artist Joanna Nowek in making a map of local society- a layout of what is happening inside buildings marked on maps of Hackney Wick, London, UK.


Portable Postbox Sadie Edginton will take to the Wick dishing out the postcards created in the Olympic Debate Cafe and inviting others to join the Great Olympic Rant.

EXCHANGE Window Space on Roach Road Local artists and community groups have been invited to display their work/photos. If you have an artwork, photo or message you would like to get in the window, bring it to exchange project space on Saturday the 18th Sept 12 till 6.
